About the Project

Musician Basco reached out to me to direct his hit song, SELL OUT, which has over 40 million streams across platforms.
My vision was to create a referential music video that plays off the genre of the song which is named aesthetic rap. The genre is filled with tropes including ski masks, guns, money, and more. Our main character is a girl who makes an edit of herself to the song, which draws the attention of Basco. They continue shooting the music video together and rob a 7-Eleven. It’s a simple concept that pays homage to the materialistic culture it’s a part of.
The shoot used sets and an on-site 7-Eleven (after much convincing with the cashier). The project was a unique one as it was the first time I had an actress, sets with props, and a DP to help me out.
